Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and ambitious Associate Consultant, specializing in Executive Compensation. The Associate Consultant will contribute to our team in delivering strategic advice to Board members and top executives. In this role, you will use your exceptional analytical capabilities, presentation skills, and experience to work with our team to help our clients align their executive compensation and human capital strategies to business strategy. You will have the opportunity to solve our clients’ most challenging strategic problems and drive organizational performance by maximizing their most important asset – people.

Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to client teams in advising Board members and senior management to align human capital and compensation strategies with business strategy.
• Develop insights, guidance, and recommendations on human capital strategies that enhance organizational effectiveness and drive business outcomes and success.
• Contribute to the design of strategic compensation programs and incentive plans that align pay and organizational performance.
• Work with our team to conduct comprehensive compensation benchmarking analyses to assess market competitiveness and inform clients' executive compensation strategies.
• Independently collect, analyze, and interpret compensation data from various sources, including public disclosure, surveys, databases, and client-provided information.
• Manage smaller projects and provide guidance to, and review the analyses of, more junior team members to improve data quality and integrity, while remaining “hands on” with all analyses and deliverables.
• Review client data, annual reports, public disclosure, industry reports, and market intelligence to build a strong understanding of clients, the markets in which they operate, and the broader industry environment.
• Utilize statistical techniques and modeling to analyze financial, business, and compensation data in order to identify key trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with senior consultants to develop compensation programs and structures.
• Contribute to designing incentive plans and equity programs tailored to meet clients' unique needs and objectives.
• Assist in the preparation of clear and insightful client presentations and reports that effectively communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to a variety of stakeholders.
• Support the team in liaising with clients, attending client meetings, and making meaningful contributions to client conversations.
• Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process improvements, knowledge sharing, and the development of Laulima’s intellectual capital.
• Excellent English language skills; bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in executive compensation, management consulting, finance, economics, accounting, human resources, or related disciplines
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage many competing priorities with effective time management skills
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to work with complex data sets and draw meaningful insights.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues, and succinctly articulate insights.
• Experience preparing and presenting materials, ideally to senior management.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all work products.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with compensation survey databases and using generative artificial intelligence to streamline processes would be strong assets.
• Experience using AI-enabled tools to streamline research, accelerate data synthesis, and improve deliverable development is considered a strong asset.
• Enthusiasm for the field of consulting, a focus on curiosity and learning, and a strong desire to grow within a fast-paced high performing organization.
Location: Hybrid in locations where Laulima has an office (three days per week in the office); fully remote elsewhere in Canada pending the establishment of an office in your city.
Compensation: The expected starting salary for this position is $80,000 - $100,000. Actual salaries vary depending on various factors, including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and performance. In addition, the position is eligible for our bonus program and a competitive benefits package.
